The SAF Corporate Program of Air France-KLM proposes that companies play an active role in the future of more environmentally friendly travel. Through this program, the corporate clients of Air France and KLM, after estimating the CO₂ emissions associated with their trips, can determine the annual contribution they wish to dedicate to the program.

Los clients also can contribute voluntarily to the purchase of SAF, making a contribution through the webs of both companies.

Acerca leaves SAF

Today, SAF (también known as SAF de segunda generación) can be made from used cooking oil, desechos or agricultural and forest waste. In the future, sustainable synthetic fuels for aviation, manufactured with hydrogen and carbon captured from the atmosphere, will also be available.

The world production of SAF is still very low (in 2021, the production of SAF represented 0.01% of the world consumption of kerosene), which translates into prices between 3 and 4 times superior to those of kerosene.

The Air France-KLM Group has spent more than 15 years investing in experimentation and the use of sustainable aviation fuel. In 2011, KLM operated the world’s first commercial flight partially driven by SAF, while Air France launched in 2014 the “Lab Line for the Future” (Línea de Laboratorio para el Futuro), an experiment of two years during which 78 flights between Paris-Orly and Toulouse and Paris-Orly and Nice were partially fueled with sustainable aviation fuel.
